It now occurs to me that any 'curse effects' I might experience from the supposedly 'haunted' book might not be immediately apparent as part of the 'curse.' In horror movies, when a family moves into a new house and a bunch of crows fly into the windows and die, we as the audience know that's because something spooky is going on, but to the family, that's surely nothing more than an unusual but unalarming occurrence. So, assuming I'm the family in this scenario, I think it would be wise for me to document every notable thing that happens during the day even if they might seem completely trivial, just in case some of them do turn out to be foreshadowing.

Not much going on today. It's only the start of university, so I don't really have a regular schedule yet, and I had kind of a busy weekend going to the cinema and doing some shopping, so I figured I would just spend my day off chilling in my room and being lazy.

Watched Ingmar Bergman's Persona in the morning - it was kind of creepy and distorted, but I'm faaaaaairly certain that's just Bergman's style and not a ghost infecting the movie. 90% sure.

Didn't really feel like cooking around lunch time so I just heated a ready-made steak pie I had in the fridge. The pastry on top came out burned even though I cooked it for 10 minutes less than the suggested time. Again, fairly sure I set the temperature too high and it wasn't a ghost. I'm even more confident about that since I did actually make creamy prawn and mushroom spaghetti for dinner and that one turned out fine.

There was one weird thing that happened - a couple hours before dinner time right around the time it was getting dark (6pm-ish). Heard a knock at my door and got up to check who it was. Through the peephole, I saw what I'm fairly confident must have been a homeless person. For context, I live in student accommodation, which has a locked building door as well as a locked flat door, so it was kind of unsettling that he made it into the flat. Fortunately, the door to my room was locked, so he definitely could not open that one.

I turned away hoping they would leave since I didn't really want to open my door to a complete stranger, but maybe he heard my footsteps, cause he immediately called me out by my real name. Don't know where he would have learned that from - I'm entirely confident I did not know him. He then started rambling about how he wanted to talk about "one of my artefacts" (whatever that means). I wasn't sure what to say, so I lied and yelled out that I had just stepped out of the shower and was naked, asking if he could come back another time. He insisted that it was urgent but I yelled back "sorry, please go away." He seemed insistent and it got a little bit concerning, so I told him I was contacting building security. Thankfully, he stopped knocking and left at that point, and I didn't end up having to contact security after all. Oh, and when I checked the kitchen later (our rooms are private but the kitchen is shared), nothing was stolen, at least nothing of mine. No idea what he was actually here for but I informed the flat group chat and everyone seemed to have a response of "lol wtf" without much genuine concern, but I did request they make sure the flat door is properly closed in future so that random people don't get inside again.

Haunted homeless person breaking into my flat?? Unlikely. Kinda weird? Definitely.
